Key Insights from 2024 Amergis Nursing Professionals Survey
In an ever-evolving healthcare landscape, understanding the preferences, challenges, and experiences of nursing professionals is crucial for building a more responsive and supportive work environment. Therefore, we at Amergis conducted a survey to learn more about the current experiences of nursing professionals.
Methodology
The survey was distributed to over 9,000 nursing professionals and responses were collected between July 22 and August 2, 2024. It explored nursing careers, including work priorities, scheduling, compensation, workplace culture, clinical knowledge, and professional development trends. The results provide valuable insights into the current state of the nursing profession and the factors that influence career decisions among healthcare professionals.
Key Survey Highlights
- Flexibility and Work-Life Balance
- 68.91% of nurses prefer PRN work (single shifts at facilities)
- 75.32% of nurses cite “flexibility in contract options” as a reason to work with staffing agencies
- Shift Preferences
- 51.28% of nurses say they are interested in app-based shift options
- Compensation and Benefits
- 67.31% of nurses cite “compensation and benefits” as a reason to work with staffing agencies
- 31.09% of nurses consider “paid time off and vacation days” as the most important benefit when considering a job
- Workplace Culture
- 30.77% of nurses strongly agree patient safety was the highest priority for all nurses
- 24.36% of nurses strongly agree that they felt included or a sense of belonging
- Current Work Situation
- 35.90% of nurses work with multiple agencies
- 23.08% of nurses work full-time as staff nurses
- Clinical Knowledge and Experience
- 32.69% of nurses believe there has been a decrease in the level of clinical knowledge among nurse colleagues in the last 3 years
- 61.86% of nurses say they feel more experienced than their nurse colleagues
